Common Questions and Answers
How will we travel on our safari?
For the majority of your safari adventure you will travel in specially designed Toyota Land Cruisers ( see below) with pop up tops. These are the best vehicles for safaris as they are rugged, but equipped for comfort and safety, and have plenty of windows so that everyone will have great views. Most travel will be on dirt roads and they can be dusty, so be prepared to get a little dusty at times during your daily game drives. Most safari vehicles also have outlets from which you may charge your smart devices. Depending on your particular adventure, your accommodations may include rustic bush tent camps and/or luxurious safari lodges. Either way, you will have access to showers and restrooms throughout your travels.

What will we see?
Expect the unexpected and expect to be amazed! You will definitely see thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of animals including antelope, wildebeest, zebras, giraffe, elephants, Nile crocodile, cape buffalo, lions, monkeys of many types, birds, and if you’re lucky, cheetahs, leopards, and maybe even the endangered rhino. Many of these will be so close you could touch them, but don’t! Your guide will keep you safe and will be able to explain everything you ever wanted to know about each animal. You will also learn about social customs, and may even visit a Masai village.
What travel documents will I need?
You will need your passport and for entry to Tanzania you will need a travel visa which is available from the Tanzanian Embassy in your country. Although travel related illnesses are not common, they are always a possibility and a couple of vaccinations are recommended for travelers arriving from the US. The best way to find out what is recommended is to consult your physician. Be sure to ask your physician about anti malarial medications as well.
Is a safari suitable for all ages?
Yes! Your safari can be custom tailored to accommodate groups of all ages. Often clients book safaris that include large family groups of varying ages - from 5 years to seniors. I would advise against including infants due to the rigorous nature of the trips. When travelling with a family group it is a great idea to have Andrew schedule some social visits during your trip so that you may learn about the rich, ancient, social customs of the country of Tanzania.
What languages will be spoken?
Your guide will be fluent in both English and Swahili, so you’ll have no problems with communication. It helps to learn at least a few Swahili words that you’ll hear all the time, so here is a little primer!
Jambo is Swahili for Hello
Asante is Swahili for Thank You
Karibu is Swahili for Welcome
